Brave & Faith-filled

Have you ever heard of Blandina? I hadn't either until just last week. She was a slave girl and only fifteen when she was taken along with her master and other Christians in the year 177 by force. This took place in Lyons, Gaul (modern France). The Christians were tortured in every way imaginable by those that hated them. When the holidays came, the governor was expected to put on shows in honor of the Roman emperor. He thought that gladiators would be too expensive to hire, so he decided to use the imprisoned Christians--Blandina being one. Those that were not called to be put in the arena were assembled daily to watch the brutal and gory death of their fellow believers. They were given the chance to recant, but constantly Blandina would say, "I am a Christian, and we've done nothing wrong." Eventually, she was martyred in the arena, but not before a few miracles took place. Find out more here.

Light-bulb: Have you heard of Peter Waldo? How about John Huss? Henry Martyn, Johan Krapf, Mary Slessor, and Robert Laws are just a few of the "little-known" Christians that come up when you search. But there are so many more! Choose one to write about. Find one that's not listed.

Specifics: Research a little-known Christian around your age. Put yourself into their place and write about them from someone's point of view. For example, maybe it's the person's friend or sibling, etc. The companion can be fictional, but the person you choose must be historical. Don't write it blandly like a school report--keep your audience intrigued in a novel sort of way. Do so in as many paragraphs as you wish; just remember to keep it all factual and story-like. Happy lighting!

your friend,

- Kit-Kat (Katherine)
