Double Word Dash

This prompt will become active again in November 2022, with new prompts!

If you haven't heard, November is the month of our Double Word Dash! Some writers struggle to keep a consistent writing schedule. So, this month, we challenge you writers to build a consistent writing habit! If you start this challenge, you must write 100 words twice a week or at least 200 words once a week, every week until November 30th to complete the Double Word Dash challenge. Every week, we will add a quirky, low-key prompt onto the bottom of this post. Even if it takes you 10 minutes to complete the limit, don't be afraid to post it! Try to have fun while building better writing habits!

Prompt 1: Go to "Light-er Hub," and press "Create New Post," then "Start a Discussion.” You can either write two 100+ word posts or one 200+ word post, it's up to you! You're walking down the street, coming back from your favorite restaurant. You look up at the sky and see a space ship. You notice it's unusually low in the sky, and it's getting lower. It keeps going, and then you see: the space ship is heading straight to you house. What. Do. You. Do?

Promt 2: Go to "Light-er Hub," and press "Create New Post," then "Start a Discussion.” You can either write two 100+ word posts or one 200+ word post, it's up to you! You're rummaging through your bedroom, cleaning it up, and under your bed is a small box with a keyhole in it. Your grandpa's key that he gave you eight years before miraculously fits into it. What happens next?

Prompt 3: Go to "Light-er Hub," and press "Create New Post," then "Start a Discussion.” You can either write two 100+ word posts or one 200+ word post, it's up to you! Write a short story using the guidelines above using no adverbs! Adverbs answer the question how, when, where, why, how much, how often, to what extent, or under what conditions, so try to limit your use of these words to just one or none in your post(s) this week! Good luck!

Prompt 4: Go to "Light-er Hub," and press "Create New Post," then "Start a Discussion.” You can either write two 100+ word posts or one 200+ word post, it's up to you! Due to an error in the space-time continuum because of someone in the distant future, the world's time structure has been destroyed. Now your character is forced to live in a reality, where there is no reality and each day may produce something different than before. Your friends only yesterday now could be your mortal enemies. (This prompt is a little bit extreme for younger writers, so if you would rather find another appropriate prompt and complete, do so. Just make sure to follow the guidelines above!)

Happy Lighting!
