Ordinary Absurdity . . . when life happens

Perhaps you've seen our other Light-Bulb: Ordinary Beauty. In it, we told you to stop and smell the roses. Meaning, we wanted you to stop and ponder on the ordinary things in your life and think about how special those things are. Oh, the joy of realizing how special it is to smell the fresh baked cookies, or go outside and see the birds as they flutter about and forage, or the stream as it bubbles over the rocks in the forest. I've seen and heard and smelled wonderful things normally when I'm out on nature trips or with friends, but do, even now, stop; think; and be thankful for the ordinary beauty in your life.

Now, however, we want you to think about the absurdity in ordinary life. Perhaps you just need a reminder today that life really is fun and doesn't have to be boring! You can be goofy.

Lightbulb: For this prompt, go ahead to the Author Forum and think about something that happened today or this past week that was just normal and put it into a new, comical light. This means personifying- that means putting life into non-living things like a coffee maker or giving a living thing a behaviour that it wouldn't normally have- whatever the situation was that you just thought of. Did you have bad luck (not) pouring your cereal onto the ground this morning, or do you at this very moment have some ridiculously funny secret from the day or week you want to share? Your post doesn't have to be poetic, but if there's another form of writing you want to make for your piece, go for it!! Did something crazy happen today? Use this prompt and the #OrdinaryAbsurdity.

For an example of this type of writing, here's a link to one of our Lighter's posts!
