What? Today is Hobbit Day!

Hi everyone!!! I know that this is short notice, however, my laptop calendar just reminded me that today is #HobbitDay! Join me in celebrating Tolkien's beloved hobbits--specifically the birthdays of both Frodo and Bilbo--with some themed challenges/festivities!

If you go any further be prepared to go on an all-day adventure!

It's a dangerous buisness, Frodo, going out of your door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no telling where you might be swept off to.

The Hobbit Day Challenge

Starting in the morning:

1. Have breakfast

Yes, that's right Merry.

After you eat your breakfast go and have SECOND BREAKFAST!

For all the rest of your meals, just follow this simple list for your Hobbit Day:

Ok, maybe I'm slightly joking on this part. 😄 Make sure that one of your later meals includes

You can boil 'em, mash 'em, or stick 'em in a stew

2. Wear your Hobbit or LOTR merch

It could be a t-shirt or a hat or whatever--just wear it and take a picture of you wearing it (maybe with your family or friends included).

3. Go bear-foot all day

This one can really only work if you're homeschooled and don't have to go out in public, but if your school allows you to...

4. Listen to tunes from The Lord of The Rings or The Hobbit

Pull up the soundtrack and give it a listen!

Concerning Hobbits, Misty Mountains, and I See Fire, are three of my favs

5. Search up some facts

Search up some facts on J. R. R. Tolkien, the hobbits, or anything Middle-Earth/Hobbit related and if you find something interesting, definitely feel free to post them with the #HobbitDay

6. Give everyone in your immediate family a gift

Hobbit's birthdays are much different than ours. Instead of receiving gifts, they give everyone a gift--they take great pains to find something they know their friends or family would love.

It doesn't have to be something big--something as simple as an encouraging note or their favorite candy. You could even offer to do one of their chores!

7. Post a Hobbit-themed piece on Light

It can be something you repost from a while ago or something you whipped up for this special occasion.

Whether it's a poem or a short story, post it, and use the #HobbitDay when you post!

8. Read a chapter of either The Hobbit or The Lord of The Rings (or both)

It's important to read the books if you haven't already, however, you don't have to read the entire books!

9. Watch one (or more) of either The Hobbit or The Lord of The Rings

After dinner, watch one of those classics--either The Lord of The Rings or The Hobbit (or both.

If you wanted to, you could even be binging all the movies the entire day (if you're currently ill or have a lot of time on your hands, or are homeschooled).

Lastly....

If you complete 5 out of nine of these celebratory Hobbit Day activities, notify me (Kate) with a list of the activities you did, and I will give you an exclusive Hobbit Day badge. I will not, however, know to give you a badge unless you notify me, so be sure to do that.
